About the Group

The lines of research pursued by the DASG are multicriteria decision making, group decision making and negotiation, decision support systems, simulation methods, rare event simulation, metaheuristics-based optimization, big data, modelling and simulation of retinal processes, Bayesian multivariate and ordinal regression models, multiagent systems, collective intelligence, social computing and risk analysis and management. The group has active research contacts with many national and international institutions, including groups from top-ranked universities as research centres (e.g. Uppsala University, Duke University, IBM Research, Russian Academy, CNR-IMATI, Manchester University, ENEA, Oslo University…).

The group has participated in many complex MCDM problem-solving initiatives, like the selection of intervention strategies for the restoration of aquatic ecosystems contaminated by radionuclides; the selection of a supplier for cleaning services in an underground transportation company or the selection of segment to be sourced from low cost countries for a global industrial equipment manufacturer. Other real applications of our research are traffic control, airport security optimization, risk analysis and management in information systems, retinal processes modelling and simulation or e-democracy applications.
